Steve Kerr dismisses Charles Barkley’s criticism of the Warriors
Golden State Warriors (GSW) head coach Steve Kerr isn’t too concerned about Charles Barkley’s recent comments about his team being « cooked. » In an interview, Kerr was dismissive of Barkley’s poor track record when it comes to predictions.
« Cole said, « Well, I used to work with Charles, and he was wrong 90 percent of the time with his predictions. » He was about 5-7 percent wrong, so I feel good about that. »
Kerr also said he was encouraged by the team’s performance in the opening game loss to the Phoenix Suns. Despite missing veteran star forward Draymond Green, the Warriors rallied from a 15-point deficit to pull out a close victory.
« I liked what I saw, » Kerr said. » Obviously, last night wasn’t as good as it could have been, but we’ll be better in three or four weeks. I think this team has a chance to be really, really good. »
Barkley also ranked the Warriors as the fourth-best team in California behind the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings. Kerr said he disagreed with Barkley’s assessment.
« I think Charles is a great entertainer, » Kerr said, « and he’s always going to say things that are intolerable. » But I don’t think he’s right about the Cavs. We have a lot of talent on this team and we’re going to be a strong contender in the Western Conference. »
The Warriors will next play the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
